Every guide follows the same shape:
- The quick answer first, in plain English.
- Numbered steps you can follow at the ironing board.
- What to avoid, including the fabrics that can't take heat.
How we write our guides
- Based on manufacturer instructions and established sewing practice. Where a patch, glue or iron comes with its own instructions, those come first, and our guides say so.
- Fabric-safe. Every guide that involves heat tells you how to check the care label first.
- Honest about products. We describe product types and features, and name popular, widely recommended examples. We never claim to have tested something we haven't, and we never invent reviews, ratings or prices.
- Reviewed and updated. Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed.
- Independent. Some links may earn us a commission (see our affiliate disclosure). That never decides what we recommend.
